On August 17th, 2007 at 8:00pm, I was able to successfully pull off the surprise party of the year. My mother, Joyce L. Smith had absolutely no idea what was really going to happen that night. It was to be a quiet, personal dinner for her and myself. The night before I had arranged for my mom to get her hair done and even showed her the restaurant's website (we checked out the menu). She was given strict instructions not to tell her friends or sisters where she was going until after we went out, even though they knew already.
We get to the restaurant (Bistro 45 in Pasadena) and the General Manager Tim greeted us. I simply told him I had a reservation at 8pm for two. My mom then stated it was her birthday to him as he responded "Happy Birthday... Let me check on your table..."
The guests were then notified that we were there and as the door opened to our area, SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!
It was really great to see my mom so happy that night. She has done any and everything imaginable for me in my life and it was only right that I repay her for all of her kindness, love and support she has given me.
